Figure review | Chara-Ani 1/8th Kousaka Kirino

Soooo I haven't used this blog in a long time, so to motivate myself I'm going to do something that I'm really going to enjoy... I'm going to review an anime figure that I got for Christmas!

This is the Chara-Ani 1/8th Kousaka Kirino figure from Oreimo!

I love Kirino's character so much. She's so so cute!

This may or may not be my wallpaper

I know that as a feminist I should be horrified with this whole show but really it's such a guilty pleasure for me. Moe anime just suckers me in so easily. As far as actual quality, the whole show is just a bunch of fan service, but I really do enjoy it so much. I love Kirino figures because they satisfy so many of my perversions... cough cough ok let's get on with the review!

I love the details of this figure, from the shading of her schoolbag to her little bracelet and the manga in her hand.

If you look up her skirt she has some cute white panties ;)

Her clavicles are elevated a lot. You can't see the depth so much in this photo but they are quite pronounced. You only really notice if you're scrutinizing for detail, but it does make her look a little more bony than she should. She is supposed to be a soft and cuddly imouto ;-;

I love the details of the Stardust Witch Meru-Meru manga she's holding! Although in this picture you can see my biggest issue with the figure, which is her hair color. Kirino is known for her orangy-blonde hair, and this figure has a much more duller brownish color.

Here is her hair in the anime, much more yellow-orangish

My particular figure has some VERY faint scuffing on the thigh. I assume that my dad got this used on ebay, which is how i get ahold of most of my figures. It isn't very noticeable and I could probably remove it with some washing, but I'm scared to scratch the paint off.

I wish I could give this figure a numerical rating, but I only own a few figures and I feel like I don't know enough to give it a real ranking, although personally I love it!

Overall I think this is a very cute figure.  It really captures her spirit with her tsundere expression, super short skirt, and Stardust Witch Meru-Meru manga in hand. Any fan of Kirino will love this! I have one more Kirino figure that I would love to review in the future. You could always comment if you're interested :]

Week in photos #2

Yeah... It's been a long time... Let's just forget about that and move on with our lives ok? I'm going to try to make an effort to make at least one beauty related post and one week in photos post every week. That's probably not going to happen given that school is starting in two weeks but whatever.

This week I went to Market Days which is this huge and amazing street fair on Halsted in Chicago. There are champagne slushes and strippers and lots of yummy food. So basically heaven right?

I don't think this guy was technically a stripper... I think he was trying to sell something but I don't remember what. I was obvs too distracted by his beauty.

I had some hot asian buns which happen to be my favorite kind of buns.

Random queen

Ahh oh my god this was the best part of the fair. Every year this one bulldog rescue in Chicago has a stall at market days and they bring a couple bulldogs that are up for adoption to the fair so people get lured in. I wanted to adopt them all but I already have Chubbs (my bulldog) and I wouldn't want her to think I'm trying to replace her. She's very sensitive.

Non fair related... I have been playing Pikmin 3 non stop. It's becoming a problem. I hear the cries of dying pikmin in my dreams. I've been playing rather conservatively, with a sort of "no pikmin left behind" strategy, but you can't escape all deaths. -shudders-

One of my favorite French restaurants is closing ;-; Le Creperie is one of the only places that serves entree crepes in addition to dessert crepes. I had to go get my fill before they're gone forever. This is the creme caramel crepe. It comes with a lil flan on top. Doesn't get much more kawaii than a lil flan on top.

That's it for this week! Thanks for reading.

Week in photos #1

Bonjour mes amis!

I wanted to share my week in photos.

I love these style shirts and have been searching for a long time for an inexpensive one.  All of the cute ones I see are from Topshop for 60+ dollars :( but alas!  I finally found a cheap one at TJ Maxx for only 12$.

Here I'm wearing the shirt with a layered pearl/gold chain necklace from Forever 21.

I tried water marble nails for the first time!  It took way too long and didn't turn out very well so I don't think I'll be doing this again -.-

This stuff is dangerous.  It's chocolate chip cheesecake dip for graham crackers.  I dip teddy grahams in it.  Mmmm... It's like diabetes in a a bowl.

I went shopping downtown with my friends and we went to Topshop!  There's only 3 in America and it's nice to live close to one of them, even though I can't really afford anything haha.  I did wind up buying some jewelry and makeup that I will be reviewing soon.  We got a 10% off student discount which was really nice.  If you're going to the Chicago Topshop, remember your student ID!

What did you do this week?

Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush review/swatches

Bonjour mes amis!

I just picked up some of the new(ish) blushes from Maybelline and wanted to share with you.

The two shades I got are Peach Satin (left) and Orchid Hush (right).  Peach Satin is much more pigmented than Orchid Hush.  All of the reviews that I've seen say that the darker shades generally have more pigmentation than the lighter ones and that's definitely true here.

I'm wearing Peach Satin on the left and Orchid Hush on the right (for demonstration purposes of course).

Peach Satin

This is a bright peachy tomato color.  The texture is really weird.  It's soft and mushy like play dough.  The packaging is plastic and feels kind of cheap but it does the job.  It has pretty good pigmentation and a satiny dewy finish.  I rarely use cream blushes because of my oily skin but this looked very natural on me.  The staying power was pretty good.  I definitely recommend this!

Orchid Hush

This blush is a light silvery baby pink color.  I didn't like this blush as much as the first.  It's much more mushy than Peach Satin.  It also takes more product to get a good application.  The color itself is pretty but it takes a lot to build up to the color.

You can pick these up at Target or any drugstore!

Nyx Lipstick Review and Swatches

Bonjour mes amis!

Ulta had a sale on Nyx so I picked up a few things :)
Let's get started

I got three lipsticks.  From top to bottom: Athena, Strawberry Milk, and Orange Soda

The first lipstick I got is called Orange Soda.  Orange/Corals are supposed to be really in this spring although I rarely pay much attention to trends.  I really just wanted a nude that wasn't too brown.  It feels really creamy applied and the color looks fantastic with my skintone.  This isn't a nude like I was looking for (it's more of an orangey-coral) but I actually wound up loving it!  It's a cream finish and it lasts about as long as a usual lipstick. It only lasts about an hour though without smearing/rubbing off.

This next lipstick is called Athena.  I wasn't expecting much of this lipstick due to the negative reviews it got online, but I still bought it because of the name (I'm a huge Greek mythology enthusiast).  I was hoping it would be a nice light milky pink, but instead it comes out as just a sheer silver frost.  I don't like frost finishes so this was a miss for me :(  If you like sheer frosty shades then maybe this will work for you but it didn't do anything for me.

This last one is called Strawberry Milk.  I couldn't quite get this to photograph correctly.  It looks a bit darker in person.  The arm swatch at the top of the page is probably the most accurate out of all of the photos.  This color is a bit too light on my skintone to the point where it looks a bit chalky.  It's not a very wearable color and it doesn't wear very long.  If you're a fan of Mac's Saint Germain you might like this color though; it just wasn't for me.

That's all!If you're interested in these lipsticks you can pick them up online or at ulta.
